Award-winning author Jeanette Winterson is proving the top draw at the 10th West Cork Literary Festival, which starts today in Bantry.
everal hundred literary fans are expected to attend a "performance" by the Whitbread prize-winning writer of Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, according to festival co-organiser Clem Cairns. "She's going to do a kind of talk, but I hear it's more like a performance," said Mr Cairns.
Hundreds of visitors are expected to attend readings and workshops conducted by authors including Bernard MacLaverty, Frank Delaney, John Boyne and Kevin Myers.
Mr Cairns said that the second-most popular event at the festival is a workshop by songwriter Eleanor McEvoy.
