Nederlands Dans Theatre III is an internationally renowned company of mature dancers who will make their first appearance in Ireland for just two performances at the Cork Opera House, as part of the Firkin Crane's Older People in Dance Programme. The company was created in 1991 by Jiri Kylian, the brilliant Czech choreographer who joined the original Nederlands Dans Theatre in 1973 and soon became its artistic director.

Following on from his foundation of Nederlands Dans Theatre II specifically to present experimental dance by under 22-year-olds, this third company uses a new approach to choreography to prove that a dancer's career does not have to end at 40.

Three pieces will be performed in Cork, all choreographed by Kylian and combining modern and classical dance with mime, drama, comedy and, occasionally, song.
