Dissident republican terrorists could strike in Britain at any time and in any location, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir John Stevens, warned yesterday, writes Rachel Donnelly from London.

Warning the public to be vigilant following the RPG rocket-launcher attack on the headquarters of MI6 last week, widely believed to be the work of the "Real IRA", Sir John said terrorists had access to a wide range of weapons.

The head of Scotland Yard anti-terrorist branch, Mr David Veness, said inquiries were continuing to trace witnesses to last week's attack, the third incident dissident republicans are suspected of carrying out in London since June.
