A man suffered a leg injury after a wall collapsed on supporters during a football match last night.

A man suffered a leg injury after a wall collapsed on supporters during a football match last night.

The incident happened at Carlisle Grounds in Bray during the Bray Wanderers versus Shamrock Rovers game last night.

It is understood one of the Rovers players scored a goal and fans raced towards the pitch causing the wall to buckle under the pressure.

The Football Association of Ireland said it has launched an investigation into the incident.

“We’ll be working with the club to find out exactly what needs to be done,” a spokesman said.

“Obviously the safety of supporters is our number one priority.”

The FAI said one man suffered a bruised knee and was taken away by ambulance as a precaution.

Others were examined by club doctors at the scene.

The game was suspended for almost half an hour.
