Voters can check their details on the electoral register on a new website launched today.
The online service, at www.checktheregister.ie, brings together the draft registers of 34 local authorities throughout the State.
The electorate will be able to check if any changes are needed, and download the necessary forms — to be sent to their city or county council by November 25th - from the website.
The new service is one of a number of measures unveiled by Minister for the Environment and Local Governemnt Dick Roche earlier this year designed to improve the accuracy of the electoral register.
Councils have finalised their draft registers and will make them available until November 25th in public offices - including City and County Council offices, Garda stations, libraries and post offices - as well as online.
A television and radio campaign will target the population over the coming weeks, reminding them to register if they want to vote in the upcoming elections.
