A US special operationssoldier died from wounds received in Afghanistan, the USmilitary said today.
"A special operations service member died as a result ofinjuries received during operations in the vicinity of Orgun, inPaktika Province, Afghanistan yesterday," the statement on theUS military's Central Command Web site.
It said the soldier's name was being withheld pendingnotification of next of kin.
The statement comes after earlier comments from USmilitary officials who said a US soldier had been lightlywounded after a bomb exploded in a separate incident somewhereelse in Paktika province.
