Washington - The pilot of a military jet that sliced through a ski-lift cable in Italy, killing 20 people, was sentenced yesterday to six months in prison and dismissed from the US Marine Corps for obstruction of justice, a military spokesman said.

The president of a seven member military panel handed down the sentence against Capt Richard Ashby (32) who was found guilty of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice by a court martial in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
