US military forces were moving to Ivory Coast today to protect American citizens there from violence in a military uprising there, the Pentagon said.
"The US European Command is moving forces there to ensure the safety of American citizens in the wake of a civil unrest," said Lt Commander Donald Sewell, a Defense Department spokesman.
