Nicosia - Two days before a new round of peace talks on Cyprus are due to begin, the United Nations was in a standoff yesterday with Turkish troops who set up a checkpoint in a UN-controlled area.
Efforts to remove the checkpoint have so far failed, a spokeswoman for the UN Forces said.
