The Ulster Defence Association has dumped a cache of eight pipe bombs in a Belfast flashpoint area.

The PSNI were informed that the devices were left a hold-all bag on water ground off Alexander Park Avenue, near the sectarian infterface in north Belfast.

Mr Sammy Duddy, a spokesman for the Ulster Political Research Group, said it was not an the act of decommissioning, but rather an effort to defuse tensions in the area ahead of the summer's Protestant marching season.
