A fire that badly damaged a pub in Co Tyrone is being treated as arson, police said today.

Heat and smoke engulfed the ground floor of the Bridge End Bar, Bridge Street, Strabane at around 1am today.

Flats above the premises were smokelogged, and 12 firemen wearing breathing apparatus searched them, but they were empty.

Elsewhere, three lorries were damaged in a fire at a waste disposal yard in Heather Road, Derry early today.
