Tokyo - At least 12 people were killed by Typhoon Zeb and one was missing, after it struck Japan's main northern island, Hokkaido, yesterday. The typhoon had already killed nearly 100 people in the Philippines and Taiwan.

With winds of 90 k.p.h. it was downgraded to a tropical storm yesterday but officials said it could still cause more damage and casualties.
