GARDAI in Galway have confirmed they are now following a definite line of inquiry" into the murder of retired Galway farmer, Mr Tommy Casey. They want to question two men in relation to the killing.

Eight people have been questioned about the murder while detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act over the past fortnight. In recent days, however, it is understood the investigation team has concluded that those responsible for killing the 68 year old bachelor, who lived at Oranmore, were in a gang of four people. Mr Casey's battered body was discovered in his kitchen on January 23rd.

In particular, they wished to speak to two men from the Clonmel area of Co Tipperary, a Garda spokesman said.

Meanwhile, a mother and daughter from Galway and Co Tipperary respectively are due to appear at Galway District Court on Monday on charges of trespassing with intent to steal from Mr Casey's home on January 15th.
