Two men hurt in Dublin sword attack

Two men have been injured by a pair of Samurai sword-wielding attackers in Finglas, Co Dublin.

Two men have been injured by a pair of Samurai sword-wielding attackers in Finglas, Co Dublin.

The men were walking along Rathvilly Drive, in the north of the city, when a car pulled up and the two attackers jumped out.

One of the victims was stabbed and was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.

The second man suffered slight cuts and did not need hospital treatment.

Gardaí are trying to establish a motive for the attack and have appealed for witnesses.

In a separate incident in north Dublin a man was shot in the leg in a drive-by shooting. He was walking along Macroom Road, Coolock, when two men passed him in a car and opened fire.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital.
