Two people have been killed in separate crashes on Irish roads this morning.

Two people have been killed in separate crashes on Irish roads this morning.

A man (18) died early this morning when the car in which he was travelling lost control and hit a ditch near Listowel in Co Kerry.

The crash happened at 2am on the N61 at Bunghara, 4 kilometres from Listowel. The two other occupants of the car were taken to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee.

The road has now re-opened.

In a separate incident, a 61-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car on the N80 Carlow to Wexford road at about 7.30am.

The woman was pronounced dead on arrival at St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny. Gardaí are investigating. but say they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the collision.

Meanwhile the Police Service of Northern Ireland has named the man who died yesterday as a result of a road crash in Belfast on Tuesday, as Grainger McIldoon (100), from Tennant Street, Belfast.
