Two people were killed and 11 injured today in two bomb explosions in the centre of the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh.
The first explosion happened at the Hong Kong Hotel and Restaurant at 11 a.m. (0400 GMT), injuring five people, including two hotel staff and a policeman.
The second blast was at the Favour Hotel at midday about 100 metres away, killing two relatives of the hotel owner and injuring six others.
District Police Chief Yim Simony said police had received a warning of a possible third bomb.
He said a third call came at about 12.30 p.m. informing police another bomb would explode inside the Favour Hotel.
"We think this is connected with extortion," said Mr Moung Khin, first deputy municipal police chief.
A special interior ministry bomb unit and explosives experts from the Cambodian Mine Action Centre, the country's state-run mine-clearing agency, are helping police at the scene.
