Gardaí in have arrested two men in connection with the seizure of ecstasy tablets worth €450,000 in Co Meath.

A Garda spokesman said officers stopped a car on Navan’s inner relief road, Navan at 5.45pm yesterday and found 40,000 tablets worth an estimated €200,000 in a bag on the back seat.

The two men in the car, aged 22 and 23, were arrested and are being held at Kells Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Following a detailed search of the vehicle today, gardaí found a further 50,000 ecstasy tablets, bringing the total value of the drugs seized to €450,000.
