PSNI officers have arrested two men in Derry in relation to a serious assault last night.

PSNI officers have arrested two men in Derry in relation to a serious assault last night.

The men, aged 22 and 24, were detained last night following a knife attack at John Street near Craigavon Bridge earlier yesterday.

Two men were injured in the assault at about 5pm. One man was taken to hospital with wounds to his throat and upper body, while the other victim's injuries are not believed to be serious.

A third man (43) was arrested for disorderly behaviour, assaulting police, and breaking a police cordon in the John Street area.
