Two men have been arrested and a quantity of weapons and ammunition seized following a Garda operation in the Dublin Mountains yesterday evening.
An off-duty Garda is reported to have raised the alarm when he became suspicious of two cars at Kilakee Road in Rathfarnham at around 6.00 p.m.
The two men were arrested at Pine Forest in Glencullen after attempting to escape on foot.
A sawn-off shotgun was found in a follow-up search in Inchicore.
The two men, thought to be in their twenties and thirties, are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
