A man and a woman were in Garda custody in Limerick last night in connection with a kidnapping and robbery last week.
The 27-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were arrested in Gort, Co Galway, yesterday.
They were being questioned about an armed robbery at a post office in Newcastle West on June 28th.
The postmaster’s son Tommy Kelliher (25) was held by an armed gang for about eight hours in the raid. A ransom believed to be about €100,000 was paid by a female staff member for his safe release.
The pair arrested had been living in the Newcastle West area in Co Limerick.
