A man and a woman are being questioned in Limerick following the seizure of a telescopic rifle and approximately 50 kilos of cannabis resin worth an estimated €500,000.
According to a Garda statement the arrests followed a series of searches in the Moyross area of the city this morning as part of an investigation onto into serious criminal activity.
The two people were arrested under Section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act and can be held for 72 hours.
In a separate incident a man has been arrested following an aggravated burglary in the Castletroy area of the city. No one was injured in the attempted robbery.
