Gardai in Limerick have arrested a man and a woman in connection with the investigation into the death of Mr Anthony O'Donoghue, who died at Cork University Hospital on Monday two weeks after an assault.

The man and woman, in their mid-20s, were arrested in the city yesterday and were held for questioning at Henry Street Garda station under the Criminal Justice Act.

Mr O'Donoghue, who was unemployed, is believed to have been assaulted in Limerick on February 19th after he had been drinking. He suffered a fractured skull and died 14 days later without regaining consciousness.
