Two men arrested and charged with public order offences after a 50-man brawl in a Co Galway village last night have been released on bail.

Seven people were treated for injuries after the fighting broke out at a Traveller wedding in Clarinbridge. None of the injuries were serious.

Gardaí from Galway, Salthill, Loughrea, Gort and Athenry were called to the fight shortly before 11 p.m..

The brawl spilled onto the street and a substantial amount of damage was done to cars, houses and public property in the village.

The men are to appear before a court at a later date.
