Two men who caused more than £63,000 damage when they set fire to a car at a shopping centre have been remanded for sentence on October 25th at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The fire spread from the car into the shopping centre and caused more than £30,000 worth of damage to a butcher's shop, more than £17,000 to a Chinese takeaway shop and more than £16,000 worth of damages to a pharmacy.

Darren Murphy (18), of Castleknock Elms, and Philip McKeown (22), of Castleknock Meadows, pleaded guilty to arson on January 10th, 2000, at the Laurel Lodge Shopping Centre, Castleknock.
