The trial of three English men charged with the importation and possession of £14 million worth of cannabis resin yesterday heard details of how a converted trawler, the Posidonia, was boarded.

The seizure was one of the biggest drugs consignments ever intercepted in the State. On November 16th, 1999, almost a ton of cannabis resin was found in an operation involving customs officers, the Naval Service and the Garda. The trawler was intercepted off the south-west coast. The trial continues.
