A settled Traveller who sued Cork Corporation had fabricated an account of an accident to support his claim for damages, a High Court judge decided yesterday. Mr Martin Keenan, who lives at the Mahon halting site, Blackrock, Cork, with his wife and 14 children, appealed a Circuit Court decision to dismiss his claim for damages against the local authority.

He said he fractured his ankle when he fell after putting his foot in a pothole at the halting site in November 1993. Ms Justice Laffoy said she did not believe the accident happened as he described it.
