It was announced today that one of the largest trade missions organised by Enterprise Ireland will accompany President McAleese on her upcoming state visit to China.
Some 127 people from 77 companies and educational institutions will participate on the mission, which will take place between October 9th and 15th.
The Tánaiste, Ms Harney, said the growing importance of good trade links with China has been a key objective since the Asia Strategy Committee identified that relations with China at all levels needed to be improved.
Mr Peter Coyle, executive director of Enterprise Ireland, said China is rapidly growing as an element in Ireland's foreign trade.
Enterprise Ireland is focusing resources on the wealthier eastern coastal provinces of China and on industry sectors where there is the greatest potential for the export of Irish goods and services, he said.
