Three people charged over Britain's biggest cash robbery were remanded in custody until March 13th today after a court appearance this morning.

Car salesman John Fowler (60), business associate Stuart Royle (47), and Mr Royle's girlfriend, Kim Shackleton (38) are the first people to be charged in connection with the £53 million Securitas depot raid in Tonbridge in Kent a week ago.

All three sat in the dock together at Maidstone Magistrates' Court where charges of conspiracy to rob, kidnap and handling stolen goods were put to them.

Magistrates last night granted police an extension to question two other men being held in connection with the robbery until tonight.

Kent police said a woman arrested on Monday had now been released on bail.

The Tonbridge depot was raided early last Wednesday morning. A gang kidnapped depot manager Colin Dixon (51), who lived in Herne Bay, and held wife Lynn (45) and their son Craig (9) hostage.

They were then left tied up, along with 14 other workers at the site, as the robbers fled with £53,116,760.
