The men are being held under Section 50 Criminal Justice Act at Pearse Street, Store Street and Mountjoy Garda stations.

Byrne’s killing is believed to be related to the Sheriff Street feud involving jailed rapist and gangland boss Christie Griffin.

Byrne, a convicted rapist, served a five-year sentence for the rape of two prostitutes in a brothel in Capel Street in the 1990s. He was also implicated in an attempted robbery at Cocoon, the now defunct nightclub which was owned by Formula One driver Eddie Irvine.
