Three people arrested in connection with the shooting of a motorcycle garda in Dublin last September have been freed without charge.

A Garda spokesman said files are to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Garda Paul Sherlock (34) was attacked on Ossory Road, off North Strand, when he stopped two men travelling in a stolen car on Tuesday, September 25th. One of the men got out of the car and shot him once in the stomach.

A 30-year-old man was arrested in north inner city Dublin on Monday in relation to the shooting. Another man and a woman were arrested in Clondalkin on Sunday.

A third man, aged 27, was arrested in Clondalkin yesterday in connection with the shooting. He remains in custody in the Bridewell Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against State Act.
