Three cheers for three years

The stars came out to meet the press at a lunchtime gathering this week

The stars came out to meet the press at a lunchtime gathering this week. Coronation Street actors Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah, and Angela Lonsdale, who plays Emma, joined the hacks to answer all manner of questions.

Posing under balloons and streamers, they both wore denim jeans, cotton shirts and high heels to the birthday party of TV3, the station which is a youthful three years old and which launched its autumn schedule at the midday bash.

Spiddel woman Grβinne Seoige, who is engaged to the station's sports editor, Stephen Cullinane, also posed for photographers. The two expect to marry next summer, she said.

Two news reporters from the station, Maura Derrane, from Inis M≤r, and Colette Fitzpatrick, from Thurles, were also in demand with photographers. There were others who were both stars and hacks on the day: Deirdre O'Donovan, of the National News Agency, who was chatting to her friend, Anne-Marie Walsh.

Some guests didn't want to shake hands, being more concerned with reading them. Adam Higgs and Fergus Gibson were busy being psychic at the party. Looking into the future, they spoke about upcoming challenges, major changes and interesting love lines. "Mmmm," they said.

Stylist Anita Hegarty, a Cork woman, smiled at the idea that she is about to go on a journey. Yes, she will be moving from Cork to Dublin this year. Alan Hughes and SinΘad Kavanagh, of Ireland AM, recorded many of their exchanges for posterity. They left then because they have to get up at dawn to go on air at 7.00 a.m. Na ruda∅ bochta.
