Threat to accused in Ryan case

A man was accused yesterday of withholding information from gardaí investigating the murder of Real IRA leader Alan Ryan.

A man was accused yesterday of withholding information from gardaí investigating the murder of Real IRA leader Alan Ryan.

Three men were warned that they risked being jailed for contempt of court after shouts and taunts were levelled at the accused, Robert Carroll (27), from Árd Cluain, Clonee, Co Meath.

Alan Ryan, a 32-year-old dissident republican, was shot dead on September 3rd.

Yesterday jobless father of one Mr Carroll appeared at Dublin District Court.

He is accused of withholding information that might have been of material assistance securing the apprehension, prosecution or conviction of a person in connection with the murder.
