Gareth Thomas and Colin Charvis have been recalled to the Wales squad for next Saturday's Six Nations clash against England at Twickenham.

Both players last featured when Wales were beaten by world champions Australia in Cardiff four months ago.

But caretaker coach Steve Hansen has named them among a 23-man squad.

Bridgend centre Gareth Thomas, who has scored 26 tries in 56 Wales appearances, is tipped to start at outside centre, replacing Saracens' Tom Shanklin.

Swansea flanker Charvis though, capped 42 times, might have to be content with a seat on the replacements' bench as cover for in-form flankers Nathan Budgett and Martyn Williams.

Charvis was dropped from the Wales set-up before the Six Nations started after opting to take a holiday in Jamaica ahead of preparations for the opening game against Ireland in Dublin.

Cardiff's Rhys Williams has also been selected, despite still recovering from a broken bone in his hand, but there is no place for Neath openside flanker Brett Sinkinson.

Hansen is due to announce his starting line-up on Wednesday afternoon.
