Thieves steal €18,000 worth of cigarettes

Cigarettes with a value of €18,000 were taken in a raid on a Navan post office last night.

Just after midnight, four masked raiders armed with what appeared to be sawn-off shot guns entered the An Post Sorting Office on Commons Road, Navan.

They tied up three staff members and stole cartons of cigarettes worth €18,000.

There was no one injured and staff alerted the garda´ at Navan of the raid at 1 a.m.
