The plot thickens. It seems the merry ex-wives of Windsor have not only enjoyed a number of foreign exploits this month but also, according to recent reports, one of them has been dabbling in her former husband's love life.

As another set of "exclusive" photographs of Princess Diana and her "Romeo", Dodi al-Fayed, appeared in the British press yesterday, it was reported that another British royal, Prince Andrew, had fallen foul of his ex-wife's alleged jealousy.

According to the Sun yesterday, Prince Andrew's ex-wife, the former Sarah Ferguson, had managed to "scupper" his romance with BBC production assistant, Ms Henriette Peace. And how had she done it? A "friend" of Prince Andrew's provided the answer: "Fergie has managed to scupper it as she has with all his girlfriends."

The "last straw" came when Prince Andrew joined Fergie and their two daughters, Princess Beatrice (9) and Princess Eugenie (7), in Tuscany earlier this month. Ms Peace was apparently "angry" that she had only been invited to the prince's home when Fergie was elsewhere. Another friend of the prince said: "Fergie has no intention of going back to Andrew but doesn't want him with someone else."

Once again, however, it was Princess Diana, resplendent in a yellow swimming costume and flippers, who caught the eye of the tabloids yesterday.

The Sun's somewhat ungracious headline:

"Di's legover" vied for attention with the Mail's romantic description of "Diana and Dodi, on a jetski made for two". The Sun's detailed description of Princess Diana's attempt to climb onto the jetski from the Mediterranean could have won an award for imaginative writing.

One such paragraph said: "He waited patiently as she splashed around, then steadied the jetski as she hauled herself back on. The princess held him tightly before swinging her leg over his shoulders to sit behind him."

And only days after the public row between Diana and the French newspaper, Le Monde, the couple appeared "oblivious to onlookers, interested only in each other". One of the "onlookers" told the Daily Mail: "They were very intimate, very much together. It is obvious they are very much in love."

But a fly in the ointment appeared yesterday in the guise of Dodi Fayed's friend, the American model, Ms Kelly Fisher. She has claimed that she was once engaged to the Harrods heir and she warned Princess Diana in yet another television interview that she should take everything he said "with a pinch of salt".

"I think maybe he never loved me. I think maybe he was waiting for a bigger fish. I think Dodi is really in love with media attention. They love it, the Fayeds. Everything went quite quickly. I found him very charming, very real," Ms Fisher explained.

However, when Ms Fisher produced photographs of herself and Dodi Fayed on St Bart's island wearing the large diamond and sapphire ring she claimed was an engagement ring, she floundered under questioning. Asked two weeks ago why she was still wearing the ring, Ms Fisher claimed it was because she still loved Dodi Fayed. Questioned a second time, she replied: "Because I like it."

Ms Camilla Parker Bowles is to set up a private office to cope with the mountain of paperwork she now faces as a public figure.

The Prince of Wales's companion has appointed a personal assistant and the search is on for office space in central London. She is said to need the office to organise her work for the National Osteoporosis Society.
