New forensic tests have been ordered on a body that washed ashore in Co Donegal more than 18 years ago, an inquest has heard.

The inquest is being held to establish if the body is that of Letterkenny man Noel McGlynn (26) who disappeared on June 17th, 1983. His brother Jim has asked coroner John Cannon to investigate whether or not the body found off rocks at Horn Head, near Dunfanaghy, nine days later is that of his missing brother.

The remains were found by accident by members of a diving club. The man was never identified and was buried at a local cemetery.

The inquest was adjourned until May 4th.
