Gardaí are today expecting the results of additional tests on the body of an elderly woman who was found dead at her home near Borrisoleigh, Co Tipperary on Friday.

Gardaí found the woman's body at a farmhouse after they forced an entry at about 1pm.

The woman's older sister was in the house at the time and is understood to have called gardaí. Both women were in their 80s.

Gardaí said the dead woman's sister had also received injuries and was disoriented. They said there did not appear to have been a break-in and they were treating the death as suspicious.

The deceased woman's sister was taken to Nenagh Hospital, where she was said to be stable.
