A Dublin schoolteacher who sexually abused a pupil in class has been jailed for three years. Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that he molested the pupil in front of other boys. The abuse extended over three years and began when the boy was eight years old. Judge Frank O'Donnell told the defendant that he had abused trust placed in him by parents and had caused great hurt to an innocent boy.
Earlier this month a jury found the teacher guilty of four sample counts of sexual assault on his victim on various dates between 1977 and 1980.
