A 32-year-old secondary schoolteacher from Co Donegal was in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin last night after receiving head injuries at a disco in Ballybofey. He was transferred to Beaumont by helicopter from Letterkenny General Hospital.

Gardai believe two men were involved in the assault, which took place at 3 a.m. in an area known as the Back Road. The injured man had earlier attended a disco at a nearby hotel. A 16-year-old was questioned about the attack but released without charge.

Gardai say they are looking for a man in his 30s in connection with the assault.
