The Taoiseach last night expressed the Government's disappointment over the decision to operate the Mox plant at Sellafield during a telephone conversation with the British Prime Minister, Mr Blair.

The two leaders spoke for 30 minutes during which they discussed the US-British military strikes in Afghanistan, the situation in Northern Ireland and Mr Ahern followed up his commitment in the Dβil last week to raise the issue of the Mox plant with Mr Blair.

The discussion came as Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth said they expected their application for a judicial review of the decision to open the Mox plant would be heard in the High Court shortly.
