A forthcoming report on the emergency department at Tallaght hospital will have "significant and substantial" implications for the hospital system around the country, the head of the health service quality body Hiqa has said.
Addressing the Oireachtas health committee this morning, Tracey Cooper said the report would make recommendations on "how we run large hospitals across the country".
The investigation into Tallaght hospital looked at issues such as governance, the board arrangements and provisions for acute care aross the hospital.
However, Ms Cooper said the recommendations would have implications for centres beyond Tallaght. She expected that the Tallaght report would be published around the end of February or early March.
