STOCKHOLM - Ms Mona Sahlin, who would have become Sweden's prime minister but for some ill-advised private purchases of chocolate and nappies with a state credit card, was quoted yesterday as saying she planned to leave parliament.

Ms Sahlin (39), who had been deputy prime minister, was cleared of attempted fraud, but her political credibility was damaged.
