A man who attacked and threatened to kill his daughter at knife point for walking to college with a black friend has avoided prison. Hakim Didani (47) assaulted his teenage daughter and made threats against her life while holding a knife in one hand and a screwdriver in the other.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that Didani held a knife to his then 17-year-old daughter’s face and threatened to bring her to a forest to kill her, in November 2010.
Didani, an Algerian national, Leopardstown, Dublin, pleaded guilty. The court heard that Didani was very strict and had been cut off from the family since.
Judge Mary Ellen Ring gave him a 2½ year suspended sentence and ordered that he make no effort to contact his daughter during this time.
