Homelessness in Dublin increased by 37 per cent in six months, according to a survey in a new magazine on homelessness, Cornerstone. The survey, carried out jointly by Dublin Simon community, Focus Ireland and Dublin Corporation, found that 208 people were sleeping out last June, compared to 151 in December 1997. In the magazine's first edition, Dublin city manager Mr John Fitzgerald says his priority is to have "broken the back of the accommodation problem" by the end of 1999.
