A consultant surgeon facing charges of indecent assault against 11 male patients is considering whether to appeal last week's High Court ruling that his trial should proceed. The matter was mentioned in Drogheda District Court yesterday before being adjourned to April 16th.

Mr Robert Eager, for the consultant, told the District Court that Mr Justice Geoghegan had put a 21-day stay on his order in case it was appealed to the Supreme Court. An appeal was under consideration, Mr Eager said.

If the matter is not appealed the question of jurisdiction would arise. The State Solicitor, Mr Gerry Daly, said he was awaiting instructions from the DPP.
