There's a brrrr in the day as lunch begins at the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin Castle. We arrive to the strains of Recuerdos de la Alhambra played by classical guitarist Eamon Sweeney.

On view are products created by individual craftspeople to coincide with the international craft fair, which will run at the RDS from Sunday, January 21st to Wednesday 24th.

Awards have been created for presentation to those who have produced the best new product. Wood-turner Glenn Lucas, from Carlingford in Co Louth, has created a small award-winning bowl in Yew, which looks "like a comet", says his wife, Cornelia McCarthy. Jewellery designer Celine Traynor, from Newry, looks proudly at her MMM Collection, which scoops an award. Meath woman Deirdre Rogers picks up a prize for her glass dishes in blue. Another prize is awarded to designer Lorraine Grant for her scarves.
