Mr Sam Stephenson, the architect, has pulled out of acting as a guide on a bus tour of Dublin this Saturday - World Architecture Day - following the disclosure that his name is among those on the Ansbacher list, writes Frank McDonald, Environment Correspondent.

Mr Stephenson, whose controversial projects included the ESB offices in Fitzwilliam Street, the Central Bank in Dame Street and the first phase of the Civic Offices at Wood Quay, said he felt that he could not give the tour under the circumstances.

He explained that he had severed any financial connections with the late Des Traynor, who ran the Ansbacher (Cayman) operation, in 1974 "after a whole lot of money went missing" and said that he had put his own tax affairs in order "years ago".
