St Patrick's Athletic 3
Cork City 2
St Patrick's Athletic kept their title ambitions alive and kicking after coming from behind twice to oust Cork City at Richmond Park this afternoon.
St Pat's remain in third position, two points behind Shamrock Rovers but with a game in hand and three points behind pace setters Shelbourne who play away to Bray this afternoon.
Cork took the lead on eight minutes when Colin Patrick O'Brien was on hand to tap home Derek Coughlan's knock down from an Anthony Buckley corner.
Cork dominated large periods of the first half but a lapse of concentration in the 36th minutes gifted St Pat's an equaliser.
Robbie Griffin, recalled to the starting line-up by manager Pat Dolan, had no trouble guiding home Charles Mbabazi Livingstone's corner from the back post to bring the sides level going into the break.
Cork troubled Dolan's side again in the second half and their efforts were rewarded in the 53rd minute with a superb goal.
Conor O'Grady, returning from suspension, capitalised on good work from Ollie Cahill and Pat Morley to hammer home from 20 yards.
St Pat's had plenty left in the tank, however, and substitute Michael Holt scored with his first touch of the game in the 73rd minute to claw the sides level once again.
As the game appeared to end honours even, Ger McCarthy sneaked St Pat's winner in injury-time from ten yards.
