Colombo - Sri Lanka imposed night curfews over most of the country including the capital, Colombo, yesterday at the end of a bitterly-fought vote marred by at least three killings and claims of fraud.

A government spokesman said the curfew would be lifted at dawn today in the five provinces, out of eight in the country, where elections were held for provincial councils.
