A RACE is on among certain legal practitioners for the honour and glory - and, indeed, the place in the history books - of steering the very first Irish divorce through the courts. Such was the eagerness of one barrister that he inquired whether he could lodge his papers last Wednesday - the day before the rules pertaining to the Divorce Act were signed. Alas, he was told he could not do so, and would have to wait until Thursday morning like everyone else.
